2014 Survivor Summit
Here is how you can participate in the 2014 Survivor Summit:
Join the Expedition: Interested participants should submit their application at SurvivorSummit.org. We will send you the link to register once your application is approved. Our group will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro February 8-21, 2014. A minimum of $10,000 in fundraising is due by February 1, 2014.
The beauty of Kilimanjaro is that prior climbing experience is not required. This climb is considered non-technical. The physical and emotional attributes needed to summit are based on general physical fitness, endurance, and a strong will to train and succeed. Fortunately, these are many of the same characteristics that you or your loved ones have utilized as cancer survivors.
Honor a Loved One: Place your loved one's name on the Honor Flag, and watch the Honor Flag fly on Kilimanjaro and at LIVESTRONG Headquarters. The Survivor Summit Honor Flag is a tremendous and unique opportunity to honor the life of a loved one, or motivate a friend in the midst of their cancer fight.
How it Works: In February 2014, our expedition team will set out to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. With them, they will carry the Honor Flag, which will be covered with the names of survivors that you submit. The flag will be flown at the summit of Kilimanjaro, with video and photos taken of this symbolic moment and shared on the website. Following the trip to the summit, and to further honor those survivors, the flag will spend 1 year flying inside of LIVESTRONG headquarters in Austin, Texas.
You may place a name on the Honor Flag for a tax-deductible donation of $100 to LIVESTRONG.
