Live Happy, Live Faithfully, Live Strong

Dear Friends and Family,

This may surprise you, considering my girlish figure and outlook on life, but my milestone 50th birthday is fast approaching.  And as close, dear friends & family, you know I am passionate about my bucket list!  It helps me live life to the fullest and gives me something to look forward to.  I have experienced many adventures, seen many of the wonders of the world and have tried to give back.

This October I am excited to combine two of my passions:  running my final marathon and giving back by supporting cancer research.  The LIVESTRONG Foundation helps me do both.   As part of Team LIVESTRONG, I'm making a difference in the fight against cancer. I've joined with other people around the globe and across different events to raise money for the LIVESTRONG Foundation.

So many of you are living examples of the fight against cancer.  You are the ones that give me strength whenever I feel my life is unbearable.  You are the reason I chose to support LIVESTRONG.  And for those still struggling or standing by a loved one, please have faith in the human spirit, modern medicine, and God above.  The Foundation serves people affected by cancer and empowers them to take action against this disease that is now the world's leading cause of death. LIVESTRONG has become a symbol of hope and inspiration to people affected by cancer around the world.

Please join me in the fight to overcome cancer by donating $5, $10, $50+ dollars to the cause.  My goal is $1,000, but the more the merrier.  Any donation is greatly appreciated and you can make it in honor of a loved one who is or has battled cancer.  My thoughts and prayers will be with them as I trod the 26 miles.  If you had planned to send me a fancy. overpriced Hallmark card for my birthday, please send an email instead and donate the $5 to this worthy cause.

The money raised will support programs and services for cancer survivors. These resources help people diagnosed with cancer face the challenges of the disease head on and live life on their own terms.

With 50 comes a new life resolution.   Not just crossing another item off my list, but a new way of giving, every day.  My bucket list may keep me closer to home these next 50 years, but I pray that my time, talent and treasures will make this a better world. May your bucket always be brimming with hope for the future.

Oh, and if there are any of you willing to run the 26 miles with me, sorry no half in this race,  I will make sure we have a great experience.  Come run with me!  2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon
