Running for Team Kate

I'm running my first marathon in memory of my friend Kate Voth, who passed away on June 1, 2013 after a long and courageous fight against melanoma.

I've taken on the personal challenge of running 26.2 miles because Kate's story inspires me to "keep going." I never could have predicted how being part of Team Kate would change me, but it has shaped my life in indescribable ways. Because of Kate, I have learned that anything is possible with passion and hope. Because of Kate, I have pushed myself beyond the limits of what I thought I was capable of. And because of Kate, I know that I can keep going.

Over the next several months, I'll be training 5 days a week and devoting most of my free time to preparing for this marathon. Along the way, I'll also be working to raise funds with Team Kate for the LIVESTRONG Foundation. My hope is that by February, our team will have raised $100,000 cumulatively since running our first race last year. Every dollar makes a difference,

The Foundation serves people affected by cancer and empowers them to take action against this disease that is now the world's leading cause of death. LIVESTRONG has become a symbol of hope and inspiration to people affected by cancer around the world.

The money I raise will support programs and services for cancer survivors. These resources help people diagnosed with cancer face the challenges of the disease head on and live life on their own terms. Livestrong.org/WeCanHelp

Please support me and Team Kate as we make a difference in the cancer fight through our participation with Team LIVESTRONG.

Thank you!
