Mr. Basil Lyberg
I am running the Marine Corp Marathon this fall to FIGHT CANCER! I got involved with 24 Hours of Booty to raise funds for LIVESTRONG and to honor my Aunt who was battling cancer. Over the course of the past seven years, I have met so many people that have inspired me to take on my own challenge. I am so excited to be a part of Team LIVESTRONG and help fight this terrible disease.
So what do I want to accomplish by all of this? On the fundraising side, I want to raise $5,000 for LIVESTRONG. I want to sing karaoke and raise some money. Yeah, so that's out there now but we'll see if I can get something fun going.
On the mission side, I want to honor my Aunt and others who have fought and continue to fight cancer. I also want to share some of those stories of the people that that I have learned from and have inspired me over the last seven years.
On the running side, I want to hit my PR for the marathon. This will be my fifth marathon and I really want to beat Oprah. If I can stay healthy and finish strong that is the best I can hope but I feel like even less of a runner that she has a better time than me. It also bothers me that I feel the need to compete in running with Oprah--kinda ridiculous.
So in reading what I have above, there is a lot of "I's" in there, which isn't exactly my style (except for when it is). So please do me a favor, let me know why this is important to you. Everyone has their story and has been impacted by cancer. I would love to hear it.
A lot of things need to come together to make this happen--health, injuries, fundraising, etc. Please support me as I make a difference in the cancer fight through my participation in Team LIVESTRONG. Thank you!
